邁向21世紀的常設展更新
《歷史臺灣》半年刊至今已15年，邁入第30期，因館舍內容屬性，文章以臺灣歷史主題居多。在這具標誌性意義的期數，如同國立臺灣歷史博物館張隆志館長於第29期提到，本刊物正朝「博物館歷史學與跨領域綜合型期刊的新目標推進」。第30期正是對此目標的回應，以「博物館常設展及其更新」為專題，將刊物開展至博物館學，乃至博物館實務探討之面向。
臺灣近5年有多間國立博物館完成常設展更新，包括國立自然科學博物館、國立臺灣科學教育館、國立臺灣史前文化博物館、國立臺灣博物館、國立歷史博物館、國立臺灣文學館及臺史博等。本次收錄涵蓋5個博物館、7個不同的常設展更新，7篇專文中皆可看見在更新規劃時，對原展覽的檢視和反思，同時因此推動、影響了更新方案。
值得一提的是，本期有6篇文章的作者或受訪對象，是實際參與常設展更新的博物館策展團隊成員，得以讓讀者們一窺從規劃及執行者視角，展覽是如何生長成最終觀眾看到的面貌。
