圓覺經者。佛入大光明藏三昧。文殊普賢等十二大士次第請問修證法門。佛一一指示一心之法。因而經有十二章。憨山大師由曹溪歸隱匡山。於七十五歲時。禪暇展卷。以圭峰圓覺經略疏與大鈔。文有所捍格。義有所不達。義不達則理觀難明。理觀不明則恍惚枝歧而無所趨向矣。是以不得不寫此直解。以了達佛意為主。而不事文言。為便修行者易於明白。誠稀有難得法寶也。
憨山德清（1546年11月5日－1623年1月15日），俗姓蔡，字澄印，號憨山，法號德清，諡弘覺禪師，南直全椒（今屬安徽）人，又稱全椒憨山，明朝佛教比丘，傳承臨濟宗，為明代禪宗復興的重要人物，與紫柏真可是至交，為明末「蓮柏椒蕅」四大高僧之一。
憨山德清精通釋、道、儒三家學說，主張三家思想的融合。宣導禪淨雙修，教人念自性佛，其思想見解頗與禪宗六祖惠能大師相契。中國禪宗的祖庭—曹溪，經過憨山德清的銳意經營，由荒廢恢復舊觀，因此被稱為曹溪中興祖師。其功德巍巍，為後人所敬仰。
