　　在古代，如果一位國君，有賢不知，知而不用，用而不任，這是一個國家，三種不祥之兆的表現，所以作為一個領導者，最大的隱患乃在於不能識別人才。

　　宋代陸九淵說：「事之至難，莫如知人，事知至大，亦莫如知人，誠能知人，則天下無余事。」人才難得，關鍵在於難知，如能知人，則得人也就不難了。

　　漢武帝時期，出現了中國統一之後的第一次「布衣卿相」，人才輩出局面，這種局面的形成固然是時代的需而決定的，但是，這也與漢武帝著名的伯樂有關。

　　管仲與齊桓公有一箭之仇，齊桓公用管仲而稱霸諸侯，曹操與張?有殺子之怨，卻收張?而不殺，其中既有容人之量，亦有馭人之術。

　　「識人難，難識人，人難識」，有的人窮其一生也沒有看清別人真面目，這樣例子不在少數。諸葛亮不能識馬謖，導致街亭失守，而武丁善識傳說，敗他為相國，才有了商朝復興。一正一反，識人的效果何其不同，可見學會識人的本領是何等重要。
