風景明信片，日文稱為「繪葉書」，日治時期的臺灣，隨著殖民地治安與建設逐趨完善，旅遊風氣逐漸發達，繪葉書亦開始流行，以滿足遊客的需求。當時市售的各式各樣繪葉書，有來自臺灣總督府官方製作發行，也有民間經營的寫真館（照相館）發行的；至於繪葉書的作品，有攝影照片，也有水彩手繪作品，內容涵蓋臺灣主要城市的風貌、名勝古蹟、社會風俗、原住民族及物產等題材。
本書蒐錄了日治時期官方及民間發行的彩色版臺灣風景明信片共225幀，並且附錄123幀與內容相關的當代臺灣的風景照片，總計348幀照片。
