核能安全委員會（以下簡稱核安會）配合行政院組織改造，重新調整規劃核安管制機關之運作型態，於112 年9 月27 日由原行政院原子能委員會（以下簡稱原能會）改制為直屬行政院三級獨立機關核安會，原所屬機關放射性物料管理局併入核安會，輻射偵測中心則改制為四級所屬機關，至原所屬核能研究所則參酌國際上主要原子能科技研發專業機構設置與經驗，由公務機關改制為受核安會監督之行政法人「國家原子能科技研究院」（以下簡稱國原院），透過增加組織
運作的彈性，提升推動公共事務之效率。
