國史館臺灣文獻館輾轉典藏日治時期臺灣總督接待貴賓或生活使用之漆器文物，計有405組（件），大多產製於江戶時期，以華麗蒔繪裝飾。
本館於2022年末辦理「蒔繪˙華彩：臺灣總督府漆器與當代漆藝特展」，從生活美學與典藏研究角度發想，精選該批漆器藏品計150餘件，以時代標記、紋飾解碼、漆皿之美三大主題，訴說過往故事，橫跨抽象意涵與具體形制，引領民眾領略漆器藝術之美及當時社會交際酬酢的禮儀規範。此外，特邀請當代經政府登錄的臺灣漆工藝技藝保存者12位及日本漆藝師20位共襄盛舉，呈現當代漆藝的精華與特色，使不同時期、世代的漆藝在同一時空下交流，進而從中爬梳出嶄新的視野，提供觀者由不同的角度認識臺灣歷史文化。
