本書是江燦騰、卓遵宏、侯坤宏、郭麗娟等對中華佛寺協會秘書長林蓉芝居士進行的口述訪問記錄。林蓉芝居士曾任職臺灣省佛教分會，因鑑於現行寺廟法令不符時代需要，乃投入研究各項相關法律規定，並成立中華佛寺協會。協會成立後，她更積極爭取寺廟法令的修訂，參與宗教立法，以維護寺院應有之權益。據其多年觀察，寺院常見有：人事制度與繼承問題、僧伽醫療與安養保障、建立財務會計制度、都市道場等方面問題。同時，她也肯定比丘尼對臺灣佛教的貢獻；為弘揚正法，中華佛寺協會歷年來曾先後舉辦各種系列講座與活動。
