林曜松教授，美國康乃爾大學自然資源系博士，歸國後任教於臺大動物系，率先呼籲各界重視自然保育，一手促成「野生動物保育法」的制定。曾榮獲農委會全國自然生態保育有功人員獎、教育部環境教育績效卓著獎等殊榮，三十多年來擔任臺大動物系主任及生命科學院院長，作育無數英才，可說是臺灣自然生態保育的開創者與奠基者。徐國士教授，1971年自臺大植物所畢業時，即在七星山發現臺灣特有植物─臺灣水韭。隔年進入林業試驗所工作，從事自然保育工作，1979年自美學成返國後，擔任林業試驗所恆春分所主任、接管臺北植物園並籌設太魯閣國家公園，辭卸公職後，執教於東華大學，積極推動海峽兩岸自然資源之交流，為臺灣自然保育的實踐者。
