每种食物都有自身的性、味，对于食物的寒、热、温、凉四气有偏盛入者，对食物的酸、苦、甘、辛、咸五味亦有偏盛入者，有盛入酒者、盛入茶者，有的人贪食膏粱厚味，有的人过食辛辣油煎，诸般偏盛入，久而久之就会影响健康，遗为病祸。例如：四气的偏盛入，过食寒凉，贪食生冷瓜果，日久损伤脾胃阳气，使胃弱脾衰，运纳无常，初病胃肠，渐及肝、脾、肺、肾诸脏，寒、温、痰、饮诸证变生。四气之中若对卒热、温燥之物贪欲太过，平素葱、姜不断，脂肥油甘，辛辣稠黏每有所偏，干硬烧炙煨炒等物有所过，如此发热难化，实为脾胃所惧。
