雷鋒，原名雷正興，湖南望城縣人。中國人民解放軍全心全意為人民服務的楷模，共產主義戰士。1949年參加兒童團，擔任兒童團長。1954年加入了中國少年先鋒隊。1956年在鄉人民政府當通訊員。不久，調到中共望城縣委當公務員，被評為工作模範。1957年2月8日加入中國共產主義青年團。曾參加溈水工程、團山湖農場和鞍鋼的建設，多次被評為勞動模範和先進生產者。1960年加入中國人民解放軍，被編入工程兵某部運輸連四班，當汽車兵，同年加入中國共產黨。在入伍不到三年的時間裏，榮立二等功一次、三等功兩次，被評為節約標兵，榮獲模範共青團員稱號，出席過瀋陽部隊共青團代表會議。1961年升為班長，被選為撫順市人民代表大會代表。1962年8月15日因公殉職。1963年3月5日，毛澤東主席親筆題詞“向雷鋒同志學習”。
