1929～2007年，桃園縣楊梅鎮人。先後畢業於省立臺北師範學校、國立臺灣師範大學、日本國立東北大學，獲日本國立筑波大學文學博士學位。主修明史、日本史、中日關係史。曾任中小學教師，國家圖書館編輯、主任，研究所教授、淡江大學榮譽教授。著有史學專著四十餘冊及學術論文百餘篇。
