叶圣陶（1894—1988）原名叶绍钧，字秉臣，我国现代著名作家、教育家、编辑家、文学出版家和社会活动家。他是“五四”新文化运动的先驱者，是文学研究会在创作上很有成就的作家，也是五四时期除鲁迅之外重要的现实主义小说家。1923年创作了我国第一部童话集《稻草人》。1928年创作了中国现代文学史上第一部长篇小说《倪焕之》。其他作品有《隔膜》《火灾》《线下》《城中》《未厌集》等。此外，叶圣陶还有着长期的编辑生涯，编辑过多种语文教育刊物和几十种中小学语文教科书，撰写过十多本语文教育方面的论著，为语文教育事业做出了重要贡献。
