林漢達（1900—1972）浙江慈溪人，著名教育家、語言文字學家和歷史學家。曾任燕京大學教授、教務長，、二、三屆全國人民代表大會代表，中國民主促進會常務理事，中華人民共和國教育部副部長等。他是語文現代化的積極推動者，一生向傳統教育挑戰。對中國的中文拼音改革、成語通俗化、掃盲等工作做出了極大貢獻。他寫的通俗歷史讀物，如《上下五千年》《中國歷史故事集》《東周列國故事》《前後漢故事》《三國故事》等是一代代中國孩子的歷史啟蒙讀物，是流傳了半個世紀的歲月經典。
