本名潘希珍，浙江永嘉人。浙江杭州之江大學中文系畢業。曾任中國文化學院副教授，國立中興大學、中央大學教授。作品以散文為主，另有小說、詞論、兒童文學專著等。曾獲中國文藝協會散文獎章、中山文藝創作散文獎、新聞局圖書著作金鼎獎、國家文藝獎散文獎。著有《紅紗燈》、《賣牛記》、《琦君說童年》、《文與情》、《讀書與生活》、《桂花雨》、《橘子紅了》、《詞人之舟》等。
