本書收錄十六篇文字，可分為三部份。第一部份為五篇論述關心的文字，雖然都是在中央副刊上發表的散文，但卻自成一系列，為作者最近思想的結晶。第二部份為五篇散論，與大陸學者談「心」、談「為學與做人」、談「德小姐」、談「六四民運」、談「師生之情」。雖然方面很廣,但卻是作者所「關心」的家事、國事、與天下事。最後六篇哲學理論的文字,雖然為學術專題,可是作者卻以清晰之文字,寫艱深的哲理。篇篇都引人入勝。所以這三部份的文字,可說都為作者一心所貫。這一心,是關心,也是中國哲學之心。
浙江青田人，民國二十八年生。畢業於國立臺灣師範大學中文系即考入中國文化大學哲學研究所，專治哲學，得國家文學博士，曾任該校哲學系及哲學研究所主任。民六十六年出國。現任金山整體學研究所專任教授。
吳博士一貫主張哲學不離人生。其為文流暢，筆鋒常帶情感。著作有：《人與路》、《人與橋》、《一束稻草》、《逍遙的莊子》、《禪與老莊》、《中庸誠的哲學》、《哲學的三大柱石》、《哲學演講錄》、《公案禪語》、《中國哲學史話》、《中國哲學的生命及其方法》、《中國哲學發展史》、《禪道與箭術》（譯作）、《禪學的黃金時代》（譯作）、《關心茶》、《易經繫辭傳解義》。英文著作有：《中國哲學術語》、《老子譯註》、《禪心》、《關心茶》。
