The World Health Organization (WHO) recently described the possible future state of the new coronavirus. “Since it cannot be eliminated, it can only be prevented.”
Before the treatment medicines are fully effective, testing, quick screening or vaccines are currently possible solutions for preventing the new crown virus disease.
Micro-spectroscopy technology is used for rapid detection of new coronavirus disease, and has also proposed to make experimental data and start clinical trial certification in the hospital!
Spectral analysis instruments (or spectrometers) for the detection and identification of materials and compounds are very practical and common. General spectrum analysis instruments (or spectrometers) are not only bulky but also very expensive. Therefore, if there is a small size and it is easy to carry and use, it will be very practical in many occasions, such as the immediate inspection of production lines or places such as seaside and mountains.
Micro-gratings can be applied to spectral analysis. The technology has the advantages of non-destructive, non-invasive, high sensitivity, high chemical discrimination rate and fast speed in data analysis.
By miniaturizing and mass-producing the spectral analysis instrument through the micro-nano system process technology, it can be as a common monitor for the production process, ecological environment and biochemical medical information in real time, providing high efficiency and safe and stable quality of people life.


He got a Ph. D. degree in polymer physics and chemistry at Stony Brook, State University of New York (SUNY, now renamed as Stony Brook University, or SBU) and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from National Taiwan University (NTU). He has also served as a Professor in several Universities and has written more than 30 academic and conference papers.
He has industry experience for more than 26 years, with more than 119 patents of USA, Taiwan (ROC) and China (PROC); he has founded two companies making inkjet printhead chip and ink cartridge, industrial inkjet printer, inkjet nano silver and copper ink, water-based and solvent-based color (CMYK) inks, and special solvent inkjet inks for various substrates such as sapphire and aluminum nitride (AlN for LED).
Before founding the first company, he has worked in the field of semiconductor DRAM, FLASH, MROM memory and logic ICs. Then he worked as a research fellow for MEMS-related research and development (R&D) and start-up business related.
